Ahh politics, got to love them. Why? They offer endless hours of entertainment. Politicians, both British and American, have done some pretty ridiculous things. Get a coffee (why not make use of one of those tassimo coupons while you’re at it). We’ve curated some of ten funniest gaffes for you to enjoy, all at the relevant politics expense..
10.) Bush meets shoe:
Whilst speaking during a press conference in Baghdad, and Iraqi journalist launched his shoe towards Bush in an act of outrage. Not only would this have been absolutely hilarious as a single occasion, but the amount of comedy parodies which have been shared around online simply adds to the humor.
9.) John Edwards caught red handed:
Whilst sneaking back home after visiting his mistress (don’t you just hate a cheater?) John Edwards was stopped and confronted by a reporter. When asked where he’s been, he responded with typical innocent behavior: ran to the nearest bathroom and locked himself in. Eventually, Edwards admitted the affair.
8.) Gordon Brown insults voter:
As a politician trying to win an election the most important thing to do is not offend your supporters, especially not when you’re still hooked up to a radio microphone…which then records the whole thing. Minutes after leaving a conversation he’d just participated in with a 65 year old Labour voter he went on the deeply offend the voter, referring to her as “a bigoted women”. The whole thing was broadcasted, good one Gordon.
7.) Clegg “2003 invasion of Iraq was illegal”:
Good ol’ Clegg was given the chance to stand in for David Cameron, who was visiting Washington, and…well, screwed it up. He claimed in parliament that the 2003 invasion of Iraq was illegal, forgetting that the individual and party he was standing in for had supported the decision.
6.) Palin falls for prank call:
Picture it, late friday night, pizza beer, and mates. Now you just need a little mischievous fun. We’ve all been there..time for a prank call! Somehow Sarah Palin was fooled into believing she was speaking to French President, Nicolas Sarkozy.
5.) Larry Craig caught in cubicle:
This is a biggie…Larry Craig tried and failed to make a lewd move on a cop in an airport toilet cubicle. Craig started making his move by tapping his right foot, a sign of lewd intent, before swaying his hand underneath the cubicle divider. Hot stuff.
4.) Obama thinks he’s visited 57 states:
It’s a sad day when not even the President of the United States of America knows the actual number of states. Obama made the error of claiming to have visited 57 states. How embarrassing.
3.) Biden claims Clinton would make a better VP:
In life self belief, self confidence, and self determination are all really important. Especially in politics. Biden has however publicly admitted that, in his opinion, Hillary Clinton would make a better Vice President.
2.) “J-O-B-S” is a three letter word:
Another screw up from the VP. Biden claimed, live, that “J-O-B-S” was a three letter word. Now call me stupid, but I was under the impression that basic arithmetic was a requirement when it comes to leading the USA. My bad.
1.) Bush’s awkward encounter with the German Chancellor:
Whilst attending the G-8 Brush had an extremely awkward, to say the least, encounter. We’re pretty sure that the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, won’t forget the spontaneous, creepy, neck massage she received from the former President. Very smooth Mr. Bush.
